Anthony Joshua has accepted WBC champion Tyson Fury’s terms for an all-British heavyweight match. His team has confirmed it has accepted terms set out by the team of Tyson Fury ahead of the potential fight scheduled for December 3.
Team Fury sent an offer to Joshua, 32, suggesting a 60-40 purse split to the champion and the date for a December fight. Fury challenged Joshua to a long-awaited fight and offered the two-time world champion a 60-40 purse after it emerged a prospective undisputed clash against Oleksandr Usyk would likely have to wait until 2023. The contest was agreed on Friday but the announcement was delayed because of the death of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II on September 8.
Initial terms have been agreed, but Joshua, 32, is yet to sign a contract.
Fury, 34, initially highlighted November 26 at Wembley or December 3 at Cardiff as potential dates for the showdown. He said he was retiring after beating Dillian Whyte in April, and reiterated that claim last month, before challenging Joshua in a video posted on social media.
Two-time world champion Joshua was beaten by Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch in Saudi Arabia last month, his third defeat in his past five bouts.
Joshua, who suffered a split decision defeat to Usyk in last month’s rematch, entered the WBC rankings at No 6 this week.
