SpiceJet has grounded two of its pilots for celebrating Holi and eating gujiya and beverages while operating a flight. The two pilots had kept a cup of beverage over the flight deck’s center console where its little spillage could have affected the passengers’ safety. The pilots did this while having gujiyas on the Delhi-Guwahati flight last week.

According to reports, the incident came to light after an alleged photo of an open cup placed on the control panel of a SpiceJet aircraft went viral earlier this week.

They said the flight was cruising at 37,000ft at the time of the picture.

After the picture sparked outrage, India’s aviation regulator issued a warning to the airline. SpiceJet has taken the two pilots off-duty.
